Enware Australia entered into a partnership with the Shire Training Group to address known and expected skills shortages within our manufacturing operations and to bring some balance to our workforce age coverage. In the past we found it difficult to attract talented apprentices' and were unaware of the benefits that trainees could offer our business and importantly our manufacturing operations. Established in April 2007 is The Shire Group Training. Servicing the Southern Sydney Region, The Shire Group Training is located at the southern coastal border of the Sydney Metropolitan area and operates from Sydney Harbour in the north, Helensburgh to the south, and west to Homebush. The Shire Group Training’s core business is the recruitment and placement of apprentices and trainees with selected Host Employers, and prides itself on building relationships with local organisations and placing people in local jobs. Typical of this is its strong relationship with the Sutherland Shire Council. As Council’s preferred provider they have successfully placed apprentices and trainees in many Council departments.
Many local businesses, both large and small use The Shire Group Training as part of their recruitment programs. Another major Host Employer is ANSTO at Lucas Heights, at which The Shire Group Training have placed many apprentices and trainees across various industries.
As well as the traditional trades, new and exciting employment opportunities have become available in southern Sydney with the establishment of The Shire Group Training. Vocations such as Seafood Aquaculture and Captive Animals Studies have attracted great responses and proven very successful.
The Shire Group Training is based in the Sutherland Shire Council’s business incubator the ‘SSHED’ at Loftus, and focuses on seeking employment and training opportunities for local people. They have also proven to be a valuable information resource to local industry, education networks and schools.
